Invitation and Welcome - Mayor Danny Jones

The Charleston Boulevard Rod Run and Doo Wop is preparing for our fifth annual gathering October 7-10, 2010.  After an effective introduction in 2006 and successful shows since, we continue this proud tradition.  The 2009 show attracted over 800 cars that lined the Boulevard along the Kanawha River last October.  Thousands upon thousands of people came to look at the beautiful cars, watched the magnificent fireworks, listened to the free concerts, witnessed the burnout contests and the many other events during the four days of the show.

Our success over the past four years could not have been achieved without you, the classic cars lovers and sponsors.  This year, as word of this special event spreads on the Speed TV network and other venues, we expect even more car owners and spectators to come to Charleston from throughout the United States and Canada.

I thank the sponsors who have made this event possible.  Many of you were on board before you had a chance to witness the huge crowds that have come to this event.  With growing interest and swelling crowds, sponsors will continue to reap the benefits of their advertising.  I also thank the car owners who come to our city.  I should warn you, though, that this event is growing so fast you will need to pre-register or show up early to make sure you get a space on the Boulevard.  Space is limited, although there are no limits to your potential fun, excitement and sponsorship benefits.

Together, we are making the Charleston Boulevard Rod Run and Doo Wop an annual classic.

See you there!
